Fueling school change with data
This session will focus on three main areas of the student experience: homework, academic engagement, and stress management. We will work with real data generated by a survey administered to real students. We will consider what is contributing to the data: that is, what systems, policies, and practices are leading students to report what they are feeling and experiencing? From there, we will imagine and propose possible interventions and improvements that could improve the climate of the school and the students' experiences. This interactive workshop will invite the audience to imagine how they might source data to drive change in their own school communities.
Conversational Practice
Audience members will work with data and each other to ask WHY the students are reporting what they are reporting and WHAT can we do to improve the climate and their experiences. We will share our proposals. I will also share what we've done at our school and the impact these interventions have had. Spoiler alert: we've seen a real positive impact!
