Conversations for Change: Harnessing the Power of Classroom Dialogue
Quality classroom conversations are powerful catalysts for developing students’ Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills and fostering learner agency. This session will delve into the transformative potential of structured dialogue, showing how intentional conversations can enhance communication, collaboration, and critical SEL components such as self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation. By actively engaging students in dialogue, educators empower them to take ownership of their learning, ask critical questions, and contribute to collective problem-solving. This co-creation of a culturally responsive classroom environment promotes active participation and builds students' agency, independence, and confidence. Participants will leave with practical strategies and protocols to facilitate effective conversations across diverse grade levels, ensuring that every student’s voice is heard and valued.
